1. What direction are the items facing? One interesting thing about baby crib mobiles is that many are not facing baby. Since baby's movement is pretty limited a great way to make sure she'll be captivated by the movement above her is to see that she can actually see the items.

Try to find mobiles (such as the one above) that are facing downward toward baby instead of outward toward the room. It is much more likely to capture her attention.

2. Are Black and White Mobiles the best? While it's true that infants can see in color. Black and white mobiles are highly likely to capture an baby's interest more because of the strong contrast. An infant's sense of vision is the least developed at birth, so it might be best to choose a mobile that has strong colors like black and white or red as well!
